I said to my soul , be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love
For love would be love for the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:
So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.

Mira's Yoga and Meditation Offerings
Therapeutic Yoga:
Therapeutic Yoga is a great class for beginners, students recovering from injuries, illness, stress,
and for those wanting a more peaceful practice.
Therapeutic Yoga incorporates slower paced movement flows with breath awareness,
gentle strength-building, joint lubrication, increasing range of motion,
alignment cues that encourage a safe practice, and balancing of the nervous system for a calmer mind-state.
Each class draws from a palette of yogic healing arts including gentle, yin,
somatics, kriya, restorative, pranayam, yoga nidra, and meditation.
Therapeutic Yoga is for both those new to yoga and those wanting
a slower paced mindful practice.
Hot Vinyasa
Yoga:
In a
room heated to 80-90 degrees, students can more easily flow through yoga postures
while cleansing toxins from the body and being encouraged by the heat - as
muscles, ligaments, and tendons soften - to be more present to the sensations
and the supportive rhythms of the breath.
Beginner
Yoga:
This class is for students
who are new to yoga, have had an absence from yoga, or for students who prefer a
slower pace. Each
posture is accompanied by specific verbal instructions and benefits. Breath
awareness, mental concentration, and formal relaxation are also introduced in
Beginner Yoga.
Restorative
Yoga: All-Level class that focuses on increasing flexibility and
relaxation. Postures
are held for a longer period of time, allowing breath, gravity, and the warmth of the
body to gradually lengthen the muscles and loosen the connective tissue around
the joints. This
class is a great complement to aerobic exercise and weight training.
Life-force Yoga:
Prana,
the Sanskrit word for life force energy, flows through all of us. When it is
freely moving and unobstructed, we experience our vitality, good health, and
joy. However, when it is sluggish, stuck, or blocked, it can result in
life-depleting habits,
stress, anxiety, and depression. Life-force Yoga, developed by Amy Weintraub,
opens the body and mind, allowing prana to flow with ease. Life-force
Yoga opens and energizes the body and mind with specific breathing,
chanting, movement, and meditation sequences and
techniques that increase emotional balance
and relieve the strains of daily life, and the symptoms of depression and
anxiety.
Each class ends with deep relaxation and sharing. This class is appropriate for
beginners and all other levels.
Meditation
Class:
Meditation is an
ancient spiritual practice that has been demonstrated in
contemporary scientific research to have numerous physical, mental, and
emotional health benefits. A daily meditation practice has been shown to
increase mental concentration, focus, and clarity; decrease blood pressure and
stress hormones in the body; increase self-awareness; balance the emotions; and
produce a deeper sense of connection and well-being.
Each week in this mindfulness meditation class, we will learn and
practice new skills including developing a relationship to the inner observer,
quieting the ongoing chatter of the mind, working with internal obstacles and
strong emotional states, being in the present moment, and experiencing greater
self-compassion and acceptance. This class will provide the basic concepts and
skills to develop an ongoing home practice.
